After moving to Minnesota in 2007 in order to church plant through the Evangelical Free Church of America, I pastored Birch Hills Community Church from 2010 until April, 2023. I have been with Broken Strength since the beginning of the ministry. We started by reaching out to two or three churches in a year but have grown steadily since that time. I believe that the model of Broken Strength of reaching out to men in truth to expose the sexual sin and help them overcome it in love so that they can have victory is the way to freedom. I believe that many men struggle with the desires of the flesh, which has been exploited by the enemy, and exploded through the internet with access to pornography. I have found that too few churches are really addressing this issue, thus a need for a men's ministry that comes alongside the local church to help them help their men battle for purity and holiness. Helping men has the added benefit of greatly helping their family as well as the local church. I am married and live in Forest Lake with my wife Kathy. Having once lived in bondage to sexual sin, I am also a divorced father of three adult children who, along with their mother, have been deeply hurt by my past behavior. By God’s Amazing Grace, in 2016, I felt a change of heart – metanoia, one might say. No longer was I a “bad person, undeserving of good things”, for I had discovered my true identity by His resurrection.
